What to ask at the end of a job interview.

What to ask at the end of a job interview.

Picture the scene; you have aced the whole interview, it’s going really well, but then the interviewer asks, “So, do you have any questions for us?” and you have nothing, embarrassing right? Well don’t worry we are here to help with this tricky and potentially crucial situation.

Firstly, it’s important to remember that while you are the one being interviewed this is also your opportunity to see if the company is right for you; you are allowed to interview the company. Think about what you want to show the employer, you should want to show them that you are genuinely interested in the position and that you want to push yourself and the company forwards.

  1. Get more information on the job role, ask about daily duties, challenges, team structure and gauge any specific skills needed.
  2. Ask what the ideal candidate would be for the role, it will give you the opportunity to match yourself up to it; you can also cover any gaps in your own skills.
  3. Ask about your interviewer, especially if they will be your manager. How long have they worked with the company? What’s their typical day like, and how would this link with your position? What do they enjoy about their job?
  4. If you researched a particular project or campaign the company ran that interested you, ask about it, ask what the results were, what the future plans are, will they be running something similar again?
  5. Prove that you want to improve your own skills, ask about training opportunities or career progression.

As a final tip, whatever it is you ask, it should never be about perks, holidays, freebies, pay or bonuses at this stage of the process.
