Living With Anxiety

Living With Anxiety

Whenever you are feeling anxious or stressed, don't let it weigh you down. Our list of 10 top tips can help you not only cope with anxiety but enable you to still get the best out of your day even when stress feels like it's getting on top of you.

1. Make your bed

This may seem simple but it's the best way to ensure you don't find yourself hiding under the covers all day. It's a cathartic process that forces you to get up and start your day.

2. Take time out

Whether it's yoga, meditation or running make sure you give yourself time to relax. Exercise focuses the mind and releases endorphins to help you feel good. Stepping back from problems can allow you to clear your head and focus on what really matters.

3. Get enough sleep

Make sure you limit time screen at least 30 minutes before bed to ensure you are well rested and ready for a good nights sleep. You may find you need more sleep when feeling over anxious so make sure you allow yourself time for that.

4. Talk to someone

There is always someone around you who wants the best for you. Ensure you make the most of those people and confide in them when necessary. Simply getting things off your chest can make you feel a whole lot better.

5. Get involved

Volunteering can make a huge difference to your mental health when you're feeling overly anxious. If you are in between jobs, it gives you a reason to get up in the morning and a chance to socialise regularly.

6. Eat balanced meals

This may sound silly but trust me, it works. Making sure you eat a balanced meal three times a day helps you feel enegergized, motivated and healthier.

7. Surround yourself with positive people

We all have those positive energy thieves in our lives and they aren't people we can imagine our life without. However, sometimes it's important to disconnect yourself with those who pull you down and surround yourself with those who bring you up.

8. Cats and dogs

A lot of people discuss the benefits of having pets at home to help calm you during an anxiety attack. Having a dog around gives you a reason to get out and walk every day. make sure to only take on pets if you have the ability to take care of them otherwise you may find they cause more stress.

9. Don't google

The worst and maybe the best thing to come out of the internet is WebMD and possibly the NHS website. We all know how easy it is to diagnose yourself via Google these days but when you're feeling anxious don't go online. You may just wrack your brain and begin to worry about more things than necessary.

10. All anxiety matters

Never feel as though as your anxiety isn't important. Don't compare yourself to other people because your stress matters too.
